Personal Statement
Using mainly porcelain and a variety of different throwing techniques I create forms and vessels that capture feelings and emotions of fluidity and vast spaces.
I am fascinated by the idea of creating an overwhelming sense that is so over powering that one cannot comprehend its boundaries. This sensation can be translated into a piece by following a line, and using rhythm, balance, tension or colour. Observing natural phenomena, dramatic landscapes and the diverse qualities of the sea all inspire my work.
It is through a process of energetic making and then rigorous selection that I am able to observe how the clay works and find new approaches.
I produce a range of contemporary, semi-functional pieces and vessels. My studio is on the South coast of England.
